The Annual Rhodes Sports Awards is an evening of splendour that recognises the Rhodes sporting clubs for their performances over the year. DanceSport was nominated for Committee of the Year, Club of the Year, Performance of the Year, Administrator of the Year and Rhodes Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year. This in itself is an outstanding achievement as few sports clubs can boast so many nominations in a single year. The club worked hard to be in a position to be nominated for these awards and we were proud to see our efforts paid off. The club is proud to announce that Candice Rafael’s efforts to ensure a smooth running of the club culminated in her winning the Administrator of the Year Award. Furthermore, the club won the Committee of the Year which had been what the committee had been striving towards the whole year. The awards don’t end there as four dancers received Sporting Honours and five dancers received Full Sporting Colours for their performance in the WDSF Open. 2015 was certainly a wonderful year for the club – the best yet!
Rhodes University DanceSport travelled to Mangosuthu University of Technology in Durban where 19 institutions took part in the University Sport South Africa (USSA) DanceSport competition.
