After a year of hard work the DanceSport Club Awards is a fun evening to relax with friends and celebrate everyone’s achievements over the year. With the upcoming release of Spectre in cinemas the members all dressed up in their best James Bond costumes. The evening began on a light note with every member receiving an award for the stand out moment of their year. This included everything from the Captain Obvious Award to the Hip Hip Hippie Award.
The evening is not all fun and games though as everyone was on the edge of their seats waiting for the announcement of the club’s most prestigious awards. Over the year all the competitive couples receive points based on their performance in the competitions attended by the club. These points will decide the Ballroom and Latin Couples of the year which are the most sought after prizes. The coaches decide on some of the other awards like Most Improved and Rising Star based on each dancers commitment, attitude and competitive performance. These are the dancers to watch out for as they are the ones to challenge the reigning couples of the year. There’s nothing like some friendly competition to keep our dancers motivated!
Rhodes University DanceSport travelled to Mangosuthu University of Technology in Durban where 19 institutions took part in the University Sport South Africa (USSA) DanceSport competition.
